New Ford E-Tourneo Courier unveiled ahead of 2024 release

The E-Tourneo Courier electric van-based MPV will launch next year, with the petrol-powered version arriving by the end of 2023

Ford revealed the new E-Transit Courier van earlier this year and now it’s the turn of the MPV version - the E-Tourneo Courier. Like the van, the Tourneo will be available as a full-EV or with a petrol engine in regular Tourneo guise.

The E-Tourneo Courier is one of ten full-electric vehicles Ford is planning on launching in Europe by 2024. Underpinning the new E-Transit Courier is a heavily modified version of the B2E platform found on the outgoing Fiesta and current Puma. The E-Tourneo Courier will be made in Romania, just like the upcoming all-electric version of the Puma.

The design replicates that of the E-Transit Courier, Ford says it has ‘SUV-inspired looks’ and is a ‘five-seat, multi-activity vehicle’. It’s hard to argue with the description of the E-Transit Courier’s style, with a blocky front end and faux skid plate - the Active model gets wheel arch mouldings, roof bars, a contrasting roof colour and unique interior fabrics. Titanium and Trend models will also be available.

The all-electric E-Tourneo Courier comes with a 134bhp/290Nm electric motor mounted on the front axle, although Ford hasn’t revealed what battery will be used (we expect something in the region of 50kWh). Maximum range hasn’t been revealed either but a figure around 200 miles would make it a competitor for more typical family EVs like the Citroen e-C4 and Peugeot e-2008. Charging speeds are the same as for the van, with 100kW DC fast charging able to charge 10-80 per cent in under 35 minutes.

For the petrol-powered Tourneo Courier there’s a 123bhp, 1.0-litre, turbocharged engine - equipped with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic. To improve aerodynamic efficiency, there’s an ‘Active Grille Shutter’ and auto start-stop as standard.

Pricing for the new Tourneo Courier and the E-Tourneo electric version hasn’t been revealed but we know the petrol model will go on sale first, in summer this year. The E-Tourneo won’t go on sale until the second half of 2024.
